MAIN TRANSITION AT 12 DEG (UNCORRECTED)

1st AIAA CFD High Lift Prediction Workshop

FALSE COLOR 12 DEGREES

Above is a false color image of liquid crystals on the upper surface Trap Wing at AOA = 12 degrees (uncorrected) = 12.96 degrees (corrected). Click on the photo to see the image full size. The numbers on the image correspond to the pressure tap rows (the pressure taps are covered with yellow tape). From this false color image you can see where the slat bracket wakes are located as they travel over the main element at this AOA. For instance, locate the pressure tap row labeled 41 (eta = 0.41). You can see that the bracket wake crosses over that row of pressure taps at about mid chord. You can also see another bracket wake crossing over the row at eta = 0.28.

Upper Surface - Near Leading Edge

There are 4 strips of films near the leading edge of the upper surface of the main element. To view a strip, look here.

Upper Surface - Mid-Chord and Trailing Edge

There are 6 film objects located on the rear half of the upper surface of the main element. These are objects 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24.
