For Object 37 (click to see schematic);
six of the films were aligned
roughly with the leading edge, one film was normal to the free stream
direction, and one film was parallel to the free stream direction
(click here to see a drawing of how the films were aligned on the slat). Note
that the way these films were hooked up, film 6 ( if counting
from zero) is the highest film and is the one aligned normal
to the free stream.
The statistics
for film 6 show some interesting trends with changes in angle of attack.
There is a minimum in the RMS at 12 degrees, a large rise in
the dc value of the film after 12 degrees, a change in the skewness from
positive to negative to positive again around 12, and a large value of
the flatness at 12 degrees. With regard to the skewness, if you
look closely at the figure you will see that at 12 degrees there are actually
two values for the skewness, one that is negative and one that is positive.
These data points were obtained from separate runs.
