Flap Attachment Line

The attachment line on the flap is computed following the same procedure for the slat. As with the main element the flow over the slat becomes fixed by the geometry over much of the range of angle of attack. The pressure distribution on the lower surface is very flat for these cases. Rbar , computed from the flap pressure data, is plotted in the figure below. For Alpha > 0 the value of Rbar indicates that the flap attachment line is laminar. At negative angle of attack the determination of Rbar has a high degree of uncertainty.
