FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR THE 2012 AIAA SPECIAL SESSIONS
1st
AIAA CFD High Lift Prediction Workshop
Q1: Are the "AIAA Special Sessions" the same as a workshop?
A1:
No. The special sessions are regular AIAA meeting sessions, except they will have the
common theme specific to this effort. Accepted special session participants have more leeway
regarding what they can focus
their research on (see Suggested Work Page).
Data submission is strongly encouraged, but not mandatory.
Participants in the special sessions must write a full-length AIAA paper.
Q2: When are abstracts
due, and what has to be included in it?
A2:
Deadline is November 17, 2011. Abstracts should be 1-3 pages long, and should contain details on the method(s) used, the Trap Wing
computation(s) to be performed, and the area(s) that the research studies will focus on (e.g., transition,
bracket effects, hysteresis, etc.). Results are not necessary for the abstract.
Abstracts should be uploaded directly to AIAA
by the deadline. (During on-line abstract submission process, you will be prompted to enter
Presentation Type, Topic, and
Sub-Topic. For these, choose: "Technical Paper," "30th AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Conference," and
"Special Session: CFD High Lift Prediction Workshop follow-on," respectively.)
If you consider it likely that you will submit an abstract for these High Lift special sessions, please
email to hiliftpw@gmail.com prior to Nov 17, 2011 so that we know
you are interested. This will help us plan the sessions accordingly.
Q3: How likely is it that my abstract will be accepted?
A3:
Due to a limited number of available slots, acceptance is highly dependent on the total number of abstracts that
are submitted. If more abstracts are submitted than available slots, preference will be given to abstracts that show the most
promise of delivering completed papers with new insights or that advance the state of the art most significantly.
Q4: Are there references available on the
Trap Wing?
A4: Some
known earlier relevant references are listed in the following document:
HighLiftWorkshopPublications-07-09 (pdf file).
More recent references generally associated with the first workshop (HiLiftPW-1) can be found on the
List of Publications Page.
Q5: What's new on this HiLiftPW website?
Q6: Is data submission requires for participants in
the Special Sessions?
A6: A limited amount of data is being
requested of the participants (strongly encouraged, but not mandatory). This data will help us to
directly compare the newer results against the results from HiLiftPW-1.
